Shuk Goalkeeping History

Independent goalkeeper glove brand · United States

Goalkeeping has run in the Shuk family since the early 1980s, when Jeff Shuk's younger brother first took up the position. Jeff later switched from striker to keeper and went on to play professionally.

The brand grew out of a family problem. When both of Shuk's children became goalkeepers, keeping two keepers in fresh gloves from youth soccer through college became expensive. Shuk notes that top-end gloves cost about $40 in 1983 and that some now approach $250, so he started his own glove company to make quality gloves more affordable.

Shuk Goalkeeping keeps prices down by skipping paid sponsorships and limiting its range of styles, and its palms use 4 mm German latex. Shuk coaches club, college and USL goalkeepers and works with Michigan's Olympic Development Program.
