Storelli was founded in New York City by Claudio Storelli, an Italian soccer player and retired Division I goalkeeper, together with a biophysics Ph.D. and an action-sports industrial designer. The idea came after a game, when the founders watched players leave the field hurt and realized they could buy expensive cleats but not gear that protected them from scrapes and impacts.
The plan for a brand devoted to soccer protection took shape in the basement of Storelli's apartment. The company's website gives its founding year as 2010 in one place and 2012 in another.
Storelli is now based in Brooklyn, and its range includes padded undershirts, head guards, goalkeeper recovery tights and goalkeeper gloves such as the Menace and Pro 3.
